Modernista Elegance

Casa Macaya

Designed in 1901 by Josep Puig i Cadafalch, decorated with sgrafito designs and playful sculptures by Eusebi Arnau, the Casa Macaya long served as a school for deaf mutes. Now owned by La Caixa bank, it was thoroughly restored in 2012 and is now used as the 'Espai Caixa' to promote dialogue and other good deeds. During working hours, you can get in to explore the ground floor and lovely courtyard.
