Giovanni della Robbia
Ceramicist Grand nephew of Luca
Giovanni della Robbia (1469–1529), son of Andrea della Robbia and great nephew of Luca della Robbia, continued in the glazed terracotta tradition of his elders. He often worked with his father, whose style is very similar, making works hard to attribute to one or the other, especially as Giovanni often copied the older della Robbia works. He did begin to sign his terracottas, however, when others began to copy his stuff, much of which is located outside Florence, notably his colourful terracottas for the Ospedale del Ceppo in Pistoia.
