The three Alinari brothers were the great pioneers of Italian photography and set up the world's oldest photo agency. In 1985, a museum of photography was set up in the Palazzo Rucellai.
In 2006 it was moved into the Leopoldine complex in Piazza Santa Maria Novella, where the Museo del Novecento recently opened, and the Photography museum has been closed ever since. The website insists it will reopen after renovations, so stay tuned. In the meantime, a digital version, the Alinari Image Museum, opened in Trieste in lqte 2016.
