Francesco di Gentile da Fabriano

International Gothic Supremo

Adoration of the Magi, Genile da Fabriano

Francesco di Gentile da Fabriano (c.1360–1427), from Fabriano in the Marches, was the Master nonpareil of the International Gothic style, gorgeously decorative, detailed and elegant, whose work couldn't offer a bigger contrast to that of his contemporary Masaccio.

Most of Gentile's work is lost, but his Adoration of the Magi is one of the stars of the Uffizi.
