palombo

dogfish

Palombo (or palumbo) looks just like a big killer shark with a grin, but it's far smaller, harmless and not particularly prized in the kitchen. Still they appear in traditional dishes in Sardinia, where they are abundant, such as the Burrida cagliaritana.

Spinarolo (Squalus acanthias) is a spiny dogflish.
