cremini

mushrooms, chocolates or cubes of cream

Cremini mushrooms are the brown ones in the supermarket—really the same species as the white button mushrooms.

Cremini chocolates, invented in Turin, come in layers—traditionally three, with granduja chocolate on the outside and a flavoured chocolate in the middle. Today anything goes; some even have four or more layers.

In the southern Marche, cremini freschi are breaded fried cubes of cream, or crema fritta.
