This is a rarefied Christmas treat made in the Abruzzo, once only for Christmas eve but now served throughout the holiday season. The dough is made from flour, olive oil and white wine, while the filling depends on the area, but can include chocolate, chestnuts, chickpeas, almonds, walnuts rum, lemon zest, cinnamon and honey (and/or mosto cotto).

Also spelled caggionetti, calgionetti or calagiunitt.
