Liguria has numerous slate quarries, and when they're not supplying makers of pool tables, the slabs come in handy to slow cook meats outdoors on the thick heavy stone.
A Sagra della carne in s'a ciappa takes place every July in Verzi di Lorsica in Genoa province.
