ossus de mortu

dead man's bones biscuits

A traditional, hard, rugged-looking biscuit made with toasted almonds and cinnamon, baked in early November for All Saints' and All Souls' day, and these days for Halloween, as well. Some cooks form them into a bone shape and sprinkle powdered sugar on them for a more 'realistic' look.
