canestrini

'little baskets'

This word can mean a sugar cookie with a hole in the centre, sprinkled with powdered sugar.

It can alse mean a form of pasta similar to farfalle, but more enlongated. Small pasta canestrini are used in soups, while the larger are used with ragú.

Canestrini also means the pastry case for tarts.
