cacciagione

game

Hunting (la caccia) is a minority if noisy sport in Italy; hunters even have their own political party. As a country that sees immense numbers of migratory birds, including some 20 endangered species, the issue remains highly controversial, especially over proposals to expand the season. There are certainly no lack of wild boar, though.

Selvaggina is another common word for game, as in the Friulian dish, selvaggina in paiz (venison cooked in white wine, herbs, spices, cream and breadcrumbs)
