shakerato

espresso with ice and cane syrup, shaken not stirred

A recent coffee trend, popular in the hot summer months, a shakerato is generally a single or double espresso, mixed with cane syrup and ice, shaken with gusto until foam appears (rather like a Greek frappé), and served in a champagne flute or martini glass. A shakerato can have other ingredients as well, such as chocolate syrup, cream, ice cream or alcohol.
