Campania

This is the region of Naples and its famous bay including Pompeii, Vesuvius, Capri, Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi and Ravello. Naples itself, famous for pizza and animated italianità, is the best antidote to the decaffeinated control-freak Europe. Try spaghetti alle vongole, anything with mozzarella di bufala, and limoncello.

The name derives from the Latin Campania felix, or 'Fertile or happy Countryside'.
