colomba di Pasqua

traditional Easter cake

Made with the same ingredients as a panettone but shaped like a dove (colomba), the Colomba di Pasqua is widely available in Italian supermarkets at Easter time, but you can find homemade ones too. Most contain candied orange or lemon peel, and are topped with almonds and pearl sugar; some include chocolate.
