orzata

bitter almond flavoured non-alcoholic drink

Orzata is the same as the French orgeat, a generic term for a non-alcoholic drink made from barley, seeds, nuts roots or other vegetables, and flavoured with benzoin resin extract, which gives it a bitter almond flavour. It's generally sold as a syrup, mixed with water, or used to flavour ice cubes. It's a popular ingredient in tiki drinks.

Not to be confused with the sweeter almond milk, or latte di mandorle.
