Piero della Francesca

Tuscan Renaissance man

Resurection by Piero della Francesca

Piero della Francesca (c. 1420–92), one of the greatest of all Tuscan painters, wrote two theoretical books on perspective, and then illustrated them with a lifetime’s work, reducing painting to the bare essentials: mathematics, light and colour. His only works in Venice are in the Accademia and the Vittorio Cini Collection.
