Giorgio De Chirico (1888–1978) was one of the founding fathers of the Metaphysical School in Ferrara (1916–18) and best known for his uncanny urban landscapes dotted with classical odds and ends and mannequins; see his paintings in the Peggy Guggenheim Collection.
