Domenico Rossi
A Rococo pupil of Longhena
A nephew of Giuseppe Sardi, a student of Baldassare Longhena and collaborator of Antonio Gaspari, Domenico Rossi (1657–1737) was born in the Canton Ticino in Switzerland and had a reputation as a rascal, one who threw himself into Carnival with abandon. Even so he finished the Casino Zane left unfinished at Gaspari's death, and became a hyper-Rococo architect and sculptor on his own.
Among his works are the church of San Girolamo, the church and apsidal altars of the Gesuiti and his masterpiece, the façade of San Stae.
