Museo Fiorentino di Preistoria

Long Before There Was A Florence

Inside the museum

One of the most important museums of its kind in Italy, this was founded in 1946 and located in the former Oblate Convent. Exhibits here come from archaeological expeditions around the world as well as in Italy, documenting human history (with a special concentration on Africa) from the earliest palaeolithic era up to the Copper Age. There's also a large collection of casts of prehistoric masterpieces from around the world.
