grondin
gurnard (or sea robin)
A primitive looking fish, the grondin (gurnard) lives in the Atlantic and Mediterranean. It has tasty white flesh but also a lot of bones.
Red gurnard (Chelidonichthys cuculus) is rouget grondin or galinett. It’s often used for flavouring soups and stews, notably bouillabaisse.
