grondin

gurnard (or sea robin)

This one walked around on little spindly legs!
It is a Red Gurnard (Chelidonichthys cuculus).

A primitive-looking fish, the grondin (gurnard) lives in the Atlantic and Mediterranean. Its tasty white flesh is tasty but it also has a lot of bones.

Red gurnard (Chelidonichthys cuculus) is rouget grondin or galinett. It’s often used for flavouring soups and stews, notably bouillabaisse.
