groseille

red currant

Red currant (Ribes rubrum). July 2014, Moscow region, Russia.

The pretty red groseilles are often used to decorate desserts or made into jelly. Red currants are also one of the fruits rouges and fruits de bois of jam and herbal tea fame.

If you’re making scones, however, you need raisins de Corinthe.
