canneberge

cranberry

Vaccinium oxycoccus (Cranberries)

Vaccinium oxycoccos. The French word canneberge is a frenchification of the English cranberry, but in spite of the Academy’s best efforts, you will mostly see the English.

The juice (mainly Ocean Spray), and dried berries have gone from nearly unknown 25 years ago to being everywhere as the French have developed a taste for them, and for their many health benefits.
