amanite vaginata

grisette

For more information about this, see the observation page at Mushroom Observer.

The amanita with a ridged grey cap, amanite vaginata, is the most common one in France. It is edible when well cooked, but it won’t knock your socks off with its deliciousness. They grow in the woods in summer until early autumn.

Also known in French as amanita vaginata, amanite vaginée, amanite à étui, amanite engainée, grisette or coucoumelle.
