amanite vaginata

grisette

For more information about this, see the observation page at Mushroom Observer.

The amanita with a ridged grey cap, amanite vaginata, is the most common one in France, and edible when well cooked, although it’s not a mushroom that will knock you out with its deliciousness. They grow in the woods in summer until early autumn.

Also known in French as amanita vaginata, amanite vaginée, amanite à étui, amanite engainée, grisette or coucoumelle.
