The quatre-quarts or ‘four quarters’ cake is one of the simplest, made of four ingredients (flour, butter, eggs, and sugar) and baked in a loaf or bundt pan (and sold in the Pâtisseries Industrielles section of the supermarché).
The same batter can be used to make apple cakes quatre quarts aux pommes or pear quatre quarts aux poires, etc.
