red porgy (common seabream)

Common seabream or red porgy (Pagrus pagrus) from the Gulf of Mexico

Pagrus pagrus. Also known as pagre commun, pagre rouge or brème de mer, it’s sometimes confusingly called a dorade although daurade royale or gilt head bream is a different fish, even if they look pretty much alike.

Red porgy live in both the Atlantic and Mediterranean, and are an important aquaculture fish—like the gilt head bream.
