Banana.
Eastern Crete is the one place in Greece where they grow, both outdoors and in greenhouses (where it's easier to conserve the moisture they need). Sweet little dwarf Cavendish plants were established in Arvi on the southeast coast in the 1930s and today grow commercially, mainly for the Athens market and in the big resort of Malia.
