kalambóki

καλαμπόκι

Sweet corn or maize. Often sold fresh from the grill (ψητό καλαμπόκι) by street sellers or even by peddlers on bikes with mini warming ovens behind the seat, who cry out 'kalambooooooookia!'

καλαμποκάλευρο (kalabokálevro): corn flour.

Σιμιγδάλι καλαμποκιού (simigdali kalabokiou): corn meal. Used to make katsamáki, or polenta.

κορν φλάουρ (corn flour): cornstarch. Easy to confuse!

Vegetables, greens and pulses
