ornate Candlemas sweets

The Sardinians have an ornate sweet for every occasion, and these very delicate almond and orange flower essence biscuits were traditionally made for 2 February feast of Candlemas. The more elaborate are formed into tiny sculptures (shoes, baskets and vases) then glazed and decorated with confectioner's gold.
