little round almond cake
Made with ground almonds, orange flower essence, sprinkled with sugar and wrapped in pretty tissue paper: a holiday favourite throughout Sardinia.
Other versions of the name include gueffos and guelfi (which sounds like, but has nothing to do with the Guelphs, the papal faction in medieval Italy).
