Maiorchino comes from the Monti Peloritani in northeastern Sicily. It's a firm, sharp sheep cheese. In the village of Novara di Sicilia, its production in the spring is celebrated with the 'Gioco del Maiorchino', in which teams compete to roll wheels of the cheese through the streets.
