nacatole

fried Christmas pastry

A speciality of Locride (the region around Locri, Calabria), these are made with olive oil and anise, and fried in the local olive oil and sprinkled with sugar. They are made year round, but are a big favourite during the Christmas holidays, and go well with the local sweet wines.
