Bel Paese

semi-soft white cheese

Similar to Belmonte, this milky buttery cheese was invented by Egidio Galbani in 1906 and named after a book by Abbot Antonio Stoppani, Il Bel Paese ('beautiful village'), published in 1873. Marketed nationally by Galbani firm to this day, it comes in every size and shape, from little snack size portions to large wheels.
