stuffed pasta from Lombardy

Shaped like ravioli or more often bonbons.

Casoncelli alla bergamasca: reminiscent of the sweet-savoury cjarsons of Friuli, these are stuffed with ground beef, salame or sausage, bread crumbs, cheese, spinach, raisins, ground amaretto biscuits, pear, and garlic, and topped with melted butter flavoured with sage leaves.

Also spelled casonsèi.
