Pistacchio di Bronte

A special variety that only grows in Sicily, around Bronte on the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna. The Sicilians often put them in recipes where north Italians would use pine nuts, such as pesto.

In late September, over two weekends Bronte holds a pistachio festival.
