Venetian cornmeal and currant biscuits

One of the most popular items in Venetian pasticcerie: yellow (the name comes from zálo, the Venetian word for 'yellow') round or diamond shaped biscuits, with a shortbread consistency and studded with currants (or sometimes raisins and/or pinenuts). Great for dunking in coffee or grappa.

Also spelled zaeti or zaleti
