orecchie di Amman

jam-filled Purim biscuits

The 'ears of Amman' (or Haman) (or hamantashen) recall the evil Persian vizier who plotted to kill all the Jews in the Book of Esther. Made with eggs, sugar, olive oil, flour and baking powder and cut into little triangles, the 'ears' are filled with jam or poppy seeds and baked until golden.
