Clinopodium nepeta (or Calamintha nepeta) is a member of the mint family that looks like oregono, has an aroma like pennyroyal but and grows wild in the Mediterranean, used in folk medicine for cramps and headaches. It’s also used as a flavouring in Casieddu di Moliterno cheese and in carciofi alla Romana.

Also called nepita, mentuccia, nipitella or nepitella.
