Santa Maria Assunta

The parish church of Malamocco

Santa Maria Assunta

A simple church at Malamocco on the Lido, Santa Maria Assunta dates from the 12th century and was rebuilt in 1339 and 1557. If it's open, you can pop into some paintings by Giambattista Pittoni and a carved wooden 15th-century altarpiece in the sacristry, known as the 'Palliotto' showing the Assumption of the Virgin, Christ and twelve Apostles by Pier Paolo dalle Masegne.
