A Tuscan in Venice

S. Tarasio Chapel frescoes in S. Zaccaria

Andrea del Castagno (1423–57), a Tuscan master of striking form and precise drawing, visited Venice in 1445 and left the city food for thought in St Mark’s and in the frescoed saints in the apse of the San Tarasio Chapel in San Zaccaria.
