Antonio Gambello
The first Renaissance architect in Venice
Antonio Gambello (d. 1481) is generally credited for introducing Renaissance architecture to Venice in the form of his masterpiece, the Great Gate of the Arsenale. He was also the chief architect of San Zaccaria until he died (when Mauro Codussi took over).
