Ponte Amerigo Vespucci

The New Bridge

Ponte Amerigo Vespucci

A bridge was planned for this site in the early 20th century, but this stream-lined, slightly curved span designed to fit in with Florence's older bridges had to wait until 1957 to be built. Named after the great Florentine explorer, its bronze plaque celebrates his discoveries.
