Anarhichas lupus. A bottom dweller, the loup de mer (Atlantic wolf fish) lives on crustaceans that it snaps open with its sharp jaws. The flesh and taste are similar to monkfish.
Sometimes, though, a sea bass (bar) is called a loup, as in the Provenal dish loup au fenouil, sea bass grilled over fennel stalks.
