Kougelhopf or kougelhopf in Alsace, or Gugelhupf in German, Kouglof is a light, airy yeast cake baked in a special spiral fluted mould. It’ usually comes plain with vanilla and lemon zest, or chocolate, or a marbled vanilla and chocolate. Some contain dried fruit or nuts or Kirsch.
