prune

plum

Plums (and prunes, pruneaux) grow well especially in the southwest and eastern France. Fresh ones fill the markets from July to September.

Along with the popular Reine Claude, quetsche, mirabelle varieties, you’ll find the round dark purple Bonne de Bry in July and a new dark red variety for cooking called Brignole.
