crème de cassis

Developed commercially in 1841, dark purple crème de cassis is a key ingredient in the classic white wine cocktail, kir among others.

Although it’s made in several places, Dijon’s Crème de Cassis de Dijon, made entirely from black currants grown in the comune of Dijon is designated IGP, as is Crème de Cassis de de Bourgogne.
