pavot

poppyseed

This file was uploaded with Commonist.

French distinguishes between the opium poppy (pavot) and the pretty red ones, the coquelicots that appear around May and star in the coquelicot de Nemours.

The poppyseeds added to food have a very slight amount of opium in them, and could cause trouble if you eat them before a drug test.
