confiture

jam

confitures

When many people think of French jam or confiture they usually think of the international brand Bonne Maman, with the distinct red-chequered lid, made in Biars-sur-Cère in the Lot—the same company that makes another popular brand of French jam, Andros.

There are also savoury confitures, especially confiture d’oignons (better known as confit d’oignons)

Useful expression

Donner de la confiture aux cochons (to give jam to pigs) means to give someone something they won’t appreciate, a waste.

Sweet stuff
