Etriers normands

chocolate ‘stirrups’

étriers normands

Normandy is known for its fine horses, and its horsey chocolates Etriers normands, or ‘Norman stirrups’ available in its pâtisseries since 1986. These are made of almond praline chocolate with a thin layer of nougatine, coated in dark and milk chocolate.

In Argentan, also in the Orne, you can also find another equine treat: chocolate crottins du haras (literally, ‘stud farm turds’). The Orne even makes a chocolate Camembert for those who dare.
