Pieces of pork, lamb or chicken and sometimes vegetables grilled a wooden skewer, usually served with a pita and lemon, and sometimes on a platter with yogurt and a choice of sauces. Archaeologists have found souvlaki grills going back to the 18th century BC. Today you'll find them in tavernas or at a souvlaki stand, a σουβλατζίδικο (souvlatzidiko).
