Pelion chestnuts

Chestnut. They grow in the mountains of northern Greece, especially on the slopes of Mount Paiko in Central Macedonia, which exports some 500 tonnes to Italy every year.

The flowers are into chestnut honey, and in some parts of northern Greece the boiled chestnuts are used to make stifado with leeks, or with mushrooms, or with orange juice and onions.
